Trove

Photo estimates

Trove lets you photograph an object, coin, or collectible and get an identification and a value estimate. Both are estimates, not an appraisal. Never eat a mushroom, or anything else, based on a photo or an app.

What it is

Trove lets you photograph an object, coin, or collectible and get an identification and a value estimate. Both are estimates, not an appraisal. Never eat a mushroom, or anything else, based on a photo or an app.

Who it's for

Collectors who want a starting point before they check sold listings, a price guide, or a professional.

What it does

  • A photo identification. Take or choose a photo. Trove returns a likely match. Compare it with what you can see. A likely match can be wrong.
  • A value estimate. The estimate is a rough range, not a price a buyer has agreed to pay. Condition, mint marks, and the market move the real number.
  • Lens Scan Pro. An optional weekly or yearly subscription, billed by Apple under the name Lens Scan Pro. Aivana never sees your card number.

How it compares

A reverse image search, a coin price guide, and sold listings on a marketplace are the checks that matter after any app. Trove is a faster first guess from a photo. It is not a grading service and not an appraiser. For a coin or an antique that might be worth real money, use sold prices and then a dealer, a grading service, or an appraiser. For a mushroom, do not use Trove, or any photo, to decide what to eat.

Questions people ask

Is the value Trove shows what I can sell it for?

No. It is an estimate. Check recent sold listings, and get a professional opinion if the item might be valuable. Asking prices are not sold prices.

Can I trust it to identify a mushroom?

No. Never eat a mushroom based on an app or a photo. Misidentification can be fatal. Use a qualified local expert if you forage at all.

Who charges me for Lens Scan Pro?

Apple does. Weekly and yearly subscriptions are billed to your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment details.

How do I cancel?

On the iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, and cancel Lens Scan Pro. Deleting Trove does not cancel the subscription.
