What it is
Speaker Cleaner plays a low tone through the iPhone speaker to help push water and dust out of the grille. It cannot dry the phone, repair liquid damage, or clear the charging port.
Who it's for
People whose speaker sounds muffled after rain, a splash, or a drop in water, and who want to try a speaker tone after Apple's drying steps.
What it does
- A tone for the speaker grille. Plays a strong low tone through the phone's own speaker so vibration can help shake loose drops or dust sitting in the grille.
- Meant for the grille, not the port. The tone reaches the speaker. It does not dry the charging connector, the microphones, or anything inside the phone.
- Nothing to sign in to. There is no account. The tone plays on the device.
How it compares
Apple's own advice comes first: unplug cables, tap the phone gently with the connector facing down, and leave it somewhere dry with airflow. Do not use rice, heat, or compressed air. A tone is an extra step for water in the speaker grille, the same idea as the tones Apple Watch plays when Water Lock turns off. iPhone has no built-in water-eject button. Speaker Cleaner is that tone, and nothing more. If the phone still fails after it has had time to dry, it needs service, not a louder sound.

Questions people ask
Will Speaker Cleaner fix a phone that was dropped in water?
No. It can help with water or dust in the speaker grille. It does not repair liquid damage or dry the charging port. Follow Apple's drying steps and allow time before you charge with a cable.
Should I put the iPhone in rice first?
No. Apple says not to put a wet iPhone in rice, because rice particles can get inside and cause more damage.
Is the tone safe?
Keep the volume at a level you can hear clearly and stop if the speaker rattles, distorts, or the phone gets warm. A tone will not help a speaker that is already damaged.
Does it need the internet?
No. The tone plays on the iPhone. No account is required.
