What it is
Bible Reading Plan helps you read on a schedule and place a verse on the iPhone lock screen. In the studio this app is also called Illumine. It is a reading tool and does not take a side in doctrine.
Who it's for
People who want a simple daily reading habit, including when they are offline, and a verse they can see without opening an app.
What it does
- A plan you can follow. Read through a plan in daily portions instead of deciding from scratch each morning.
- A lock-screen verse. A widget can show a verse on the lock screen.
- Reading that works offline. Once the text is on your iPhone, you can read without a network connection.
- A streak, as a reminder. A streak marks days you showed up. Missing a day is ordinary. The plan is still there when you come back.
How it compares
You can read the Bible on a website or in a paper copy with any schedule you write down. Bible Reading Plan keeps the day's portion, a streak, and a lock-screen verse on the phone, and it works offline after the text is on the device. It does not replace a church, a commentary, or your own tradition. Passages are presented for reading, not as a ruling on doctrine.

Questions people ask
Which tradition does the app teach?
It doesn't take a side. It is a reading plan and a widget. Notes elsewhere on this site cite widely used reading advice and do not argue doctrine.
Is it the same app as Illumine?
Yes. The App Store name is Bible Reading Plan & Widget. Illumine is the name we use for the same app inside the studio. The address of this page stays /apps/bible-reading-plan/.
Does it work on a plane?
Yes, for text that is already on the iPhone. You do not need a connection to open the day's reading.
What if I miss a week?
Start at today's portion or continue where you left off. A plan is a tool. Falling behind is not a failure the app needs to punish.
